Full Version: Deve Mc Dropped But Not Dropped

Okay so regarding DEve Misaki Chronicles... ADV said it was licensed. They didn't say who acquired it but http://www.envirosphere.com/ reports it was ADV. Whether they really have it is unknown at this time, but it's safe enough to say it is licensed. With this the translator requested all episodes associated with him cease distribution. So that was done.

The decision has been made to continue with the series and redo episodes 1-8. They will be available through a batch torrent and will be on our archive bot later this week or early next. Please note these are new files and all previous versions will not be supported.

The episodes have always been encoded with Koepis xvid and are still being encoded with that version at the latest build. Most computers should be able to play back the file fine as long as no deblocking is enabled in the xvid preferences. If you want to check the options, go to Start > Programs > xvid > configure decoder.

Due to the work involved and looking at download numbers, we've decided to drop the smaller resolution version. It on average had two thirds fewer downloads than the larger resolution version and overall was lower in quality. We know this will inconvenience some and we are sorry. This probably would have happened sooner but due to the set backs the MC team had nothing moved forward on it.

Also, from what I've noticed, places like Baka-Updates only listed the smaller resolution version, so a lot of people probably noticed that and never knew that there was a better quality version. Just a thought laugh.gif

That would make sence if the smaller version was getting downloaded more, but the larger better quality was the one getting the most downloads.

thank god, you still continue on it

thats good

I have downloaded both versions and decided to keep the low res one because I didn't like the Hi-res "BS" station watermarks. The low res one doesn't have it.

I guess I'll have to redownload again...

Glad to hear the series will be continues but its a shame you will drop the smaller resolution, Anything less than an athlon 2000 has difficulty playing the larger res and becomes choppy. not too great for viewing on older machines.

The lowest system spec I've tested this on is an Atlon 1700 with radeon 7500 and 512megs ram. It played perfect not to mention it was reading over a network.

First off, I want to say thanks for continuing this series. I'm also glad that the high res was chosen over the low res since that's the one that I have been watching. Now as far as PC system requirements go I can't say what the minimun would be since I don't watch it on my computer. I run everything I watch through my XboX using XBMC over a network. Most of you should know that an XboX only has a 788 Mhz processer and an Nvida GPU. This is fairly low end based on current PC specs, but I've never had any frame drops or sound issues with it since I installed the official release of XBMC. Prior to that the only episode that caused me any problems was ep.#5. So based on that I would have to say that it's not so much the computer but the player itself that may cause problems with the high res version. Just my 2 cents worth of info.

I watch anime on my xbox using xbmc as well... biggrin.gif In 480i (ie your average 3:4 TV with big dot pitch), the picture is scaled down to 640x480, I can't see a difference. Like I said before, the station logo is more of an eye sore for me. sleep.gif

As long as "1337" groups are not using things like packet mode or any of those obscure CPU craze non-backward compatible mode, the 733MHz stripped down P3 CPU in the xbox using YV12 overlay mode is fine for anime viewing.

I play the 1024 version of the files all the time on a P3-600 with a GeForce2 MX card over my LAN, and they always work fine for me. Any issues with playback is more than likely a result of the player.

for my first statement, I was just talking about why there were as many of the lower-res downloaders as there were (I'd imagine there'd be less if many of those people knew there was a higher-res version).

Anyway, I don't think playing back the file in a player is the problem w/ people's computer chugging along, it's the stretching to fit when in full-screen that adds more processing to the equation, and the older processors can't do both accurately at the same time.

For a while, I was going insane as the high-res encodes always had lagged audio, and I knew my processor could handle it... turned out to be a matter of turning deblocking off in XviD though.

Got you beat tongue.gif

P2 400 w/ an old ati rage card

of course the video isn't gonna run perfect...but the fact remains that it runs (just laggy....but then again...nearly all my anime lags dry.gif )

Ok, let me get this straight. The original translator's work is taken off. You guys decided to continue with this series so a new translator is gonna do all the eps again and continue. This is going to be distributed via irc and you decided not to do the small resolution version and you are only gonna release the 1024x576 version to save time. Is this right?
LytHka
They're already re-released (high resolution). That is all you need to know.

Is the only difference with the credits, or did any actual content change in the new versions of 1-8?

one tip on playing the 1024 version smoothly on lower end systems : don't use Windows Media Player! wink.gif

Yup, I have tried playing the 1024 version on an old Celeron 700 system, and it plays very choppy and skips a lot with sound delays and things with Windows Media Player, however when I load it up with Zoom Player it's all super smooth from start to finish with zero problem! Also I heard it plays great with MPC and MPlayer etc. etc. So just don't use Windows Media Player and I think it will be okay for lower end system. cool.gif
