I just bought the Flame of Recca dvds from amazon, discs 1-7.

Basically I'm wondering how many DVDs there's going to be for the series.

Secondly as I understand there's 42 eps total. Is that correct.

Yes, there are 42 episodes. So given the current trend of four episodes per dvd, I'd guess that you're looking at 11 dvds total, with the last two containing three episodes each.

Or maybe they feel generous and release two discs that contain five episodes each, for a grand total of 10 dvds.

It's wait and see, I guess.
