With tonight's release of Alice Adventures 06, we finish the series and we finish our group. There is no moving on, there is no dissapearing, there is just retirement. I'm the current leader but there've been at least three before me who've held the post. AnimeForever-Fansubs started as a small group in 2003 or 2002, no one really remembers. The founders of the group have been long gone, but we've continued the tradition. While the number of us has dwindled and many of us have lost the free time to spare to this hobby, we've continued on these past two years despite being fairly inactive.
By our count we finish with 563 releases. Most of these have been since 2004 but then and before were many one off's, dropped projects, internally subbed, or otherwise not widely distributed.
Thank you for flying AnimeForever-Fansub airlines and we hope you've enjoyed the ride.
I would like to note all the staff that have ever worked for or aided us in our journey. I know I'm forgetting many but here're a few I can recollect.

Thanks very much for the years of fansubs. Your group has done consistently good quality work over the years and I particularly enjoyed the Mahou Shoujotai series, along with Champloo, Chrno Crusade, Mushishi and others. It's been a long wait, but the Mahou Shoujotai box set Book of Spells is finally available from RightStuf and I should be receiving mine this week, along with Black Cat. It's been great to be able to check out these series through fansubs and then support the ones I like. I hope that some of your group will be able to get involved in other projects in the future. Thanks again.

As a side note 83 people (as of that listing) have passed through AF-F.
Of the 82 I've worked with 73 and I know I've chatted with at least 4 more.
Of the 82 I've met 11 of them in person.
Fansubbing isn't just about anime, it isn't about getting your releases out as soon as possible, it isn't about the fans... it is a passion and should stay that way.

I just signed up to say, thanks for all the hard work and diligence everyone at AnimeForever-Fansubs has put in over the years. I've watched many releases from this group and they've always been the most thorough in background notes and, as far as I could tell, excellent translations. I will sorely miss this group, not only for the anime but because the people that worked here that I've talked on IRC were always pleasant to talk to and helpful. Thank you again for all the work you've done

Good job Driftr.
I think we started back in 2001 as official AF-F (riui).
Thanks for hard work and good luck on your future.

Hey guys. I came here a few years ago and I remember you in particular, driftr. I felt closest to this small anime community and would like to thank you guys for your great work, from Samurai Champloo to Mushishi, Mahou Shoujo Tai, and the other series you subbed. I chose your subs for the great quality that you produced. I also haven't had as much time to participate in my hobby of WATCHING anime and reading manga

, so it's understandable that you must move on.
Thanks a lot, take care, and good luck to you all in your lives.

A very grateful thank you to AF-F!! Yours was the first fansub group I followed dating back to when you were doing Inu-Yasha.
I especially loved when you did Last Exile. Especially the special opener for the last episode! To this day, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen anyone do! I had fun in the forums with all the fans of the show, discussing the current weeks ep and trying to figure out where things were headed and what certain subtle details meant. All the detail you put into it, the descriptions and translations of even the smallest thing like the flight manual, signs, and other things that the DvDs never even touched, along with all the fans here, made that show 10 times more enjoyable then it was by itself! While I bought the DvDs as soon as they came out, I still kept yours!
AF-F will always be my favorite fansub group! Thank you!!!

I also just created an account to say how much I appreciate your present and past work. Although, I haven't been following all along the way, AnimeForever was the first fansub site that I used, and your subbing of Last EXILE was the first full season of anime that I ever saw! After five years, I just re-watched Last EXILE. I became so nostalgic that I felt like looking in to this site to see how things were. I am very sad to see the end, and I hope that maybe someone will take the torch and keep AnimeForever going. I know that's not gonna happen, I'm just really gonna miss this place. Great job guys. You really set the bar.

Add me to the growing small list of people who created an account to say goodbye. I wasn't ever really part of the community as such but I've watched a great deal of A-F fansubs which were a core part of an anime club I used to be involved in. It's sad to see a quality group retire, but it's probably better to retire gracefully than lurk around for ages. Good luck to all, have fun working out how to spend your new found free time!

Tis a sad day.
I come to view the site for an unknown reason, as I have't been around in years.. Then I find that it is retiring.
Driftr, you shifty-eyed goat with the :"mexicant" attitude.. It's was an honor getting to work with you guys before.. Trust me, I may have dropped out and went on to other non anime projects, but I still loved most of you here.
Peace out, AF-F, may the world remember the good work and the good people who kept this place thriving.

It is a sad indeed. I am sorry I wasn't here for the end. But I missed you all and enjoyed the time I spent with you.
Thanks everyone.

I'm a bit late (a bit is an understatement) but I've also registered just to say thank you. I really appreciate the work you've been doing and I really admire You all. Even though the group wasn't too big or too popular your releases were (and are) great. Special thanks for Samurai Champloo, Mushishi and Mahou Shoujotai (which I'm currently watching). Thank you, you're the best.
